I was recently scanning some Court of Requests/General Sessions documents with revenues thereupon for my next auction and noted
a 1/- green Numeral Stamp Duty in among the St George & Dragons and Platypus issues. Curiosity lead me to Bill Craig's "Handbook of
Tasmanian Revenue Stamps" and found he lists the ERD of use for this stamp (Craig 7.81) as being in 1911.
This stamp has been cancelled clearly in June 1904 - seven years earlier than the first year of use as listed by Craig.
Does anyone have other dated copies of this stamp used prior to 1911? All contributions are welcome!

Re: 1/- green Numeral Craig 7.81 - A New Early Date?
In The Courier some years ago I reported the use of the 5/- Numeral and the 10/- on document during 1904 and 1905.
In would seem that the Numeral set was issued as early as 1904.

Please stop using OLD out dated catalogues, a quick look at my FREE on line Tasmanain Revenue Catalogue clearly shows a date of 1904.

Re: 1/- green Numeral Craig 7.81 - A New Early Date?
I did refer to your FREE Online catalog Dave, but to the best of my knowledge not all of the first issue have been seen used with 1904 dates.
Please regard my posting as a confirmation of a new early date of use for Craig 7.81. I was surprised to find it as I have seen
numerous examples of the 1/- Platypus optd REVENUE used up until c.1907 and one could assume that a 1/- denomination in the
"new issue" was not required in 1904.
Perhaps this topic could be used to confirm other earlier dates for Craig 7.75 to 7.85 (I will post one or both of the early dates for the two
other values in the first series that John S. mentions above (if I can find them!)

Ah with you now Ross, i am away from my Tasmania main collection but have a book of scraps at home which yielded the below scan:
I think you may find all values were issued in 1904 except maybe the £1.
